random fold skirt and indigo coat*, UNIFORM Studio 2008 children’s collection
The new issue of Small is out and it is as beautiful as ever. I absolutely love the styling for the small threads feature. It feels fresh and modern but at the same time it has the texture, depth and layering of something that’s worn in and comfortable. For me the best design, whether it’s clothing or architecture, has this mix.
The Finnish architect Alvar Aalto’s work was like this. I especially like his own house.
Lately I’ve been obsessed with browsing Arthur’s circus, an online store that sells vintage toys, collectibles and lighting. The way they style their products, using lots of space and white, also has that modern eclectic feel which allows you to see the pieces in a new way.

twofold pencil wrap skirt in deep indigo denim, UNIFORM Studio, Fall 2008
Twofold
adjective Two”fold`\, a. [Cf. Twifold.] Double; duplicate; multiplied by two; as, a twofold nature; a twofold sense; a twofold argument.
having more than one decidedly dissimilar aspects or qualities.
I know pencil skirts are quite trendy right now, but I like them and wanted to make my own version. This is a narrow pencil skirt that wraps into two folds on the side, giving it a narrow and somewhat asymmetric profile but still allowing room to move - twofold.
